Interview with Restrayned!!!

Here are the members of the band:

Johnny: Guitars/Vocals
Tony: Guitars/Vocals
Chris: Bass
Marc: Drums

Below are the bands group responces for the questions I asked them:

1. What inspired you guys to play music?

We all started playing music very early on in life. Everything from classical guitars to woodwind instruments, even to pots and pans! It was not until the 80’s explosion of heavy metal that got us all interested. The powerful sounds and huge stage shows of bands like KISS, Van Halen, Dokken, Judas Priest, Def Leppard, Rush and Yes inspired us to get serious about playing music.

2. How has music changed your life?

Music has just always been a part of our lives. Music essentially has kept us from going insane and has allowed us to express in a tangible form of what is on our minds. Also, what we are feeling at any given point in time. We are constantly writing new songs and ideas in our heads. It gives us a much needed outlet from all of the trials and tribulations of our day to day lives. Playing music is like a fountain of youth... you never grow up!

3. What bands do you guys listen to and how have they inspired your music?

Early on it was Kiss, Van Halen, Dokken, Motley Crue, Iron Maiden, Queensryche, Scorpions, Judas Priest, etc. The bands of the 80's helped shape us as singers and players. We currently listen to various styles of music, such as: Black Label Society, Alice in Chains, Alter Bridge, Disturbed, Bullets for My Valentine, Opeth, Slipknot, Foo Fighters, and even some black metal stuff. Everyone has different tastes, which is what makes this band work. We each bring influences from all over the musical map and end up in one destination that is uniquely: Restrayned.

4. What advice do you guys have for others that want to pursue in music as a career?

Write and record everything you can. Play music for yourself and not for others. If you love what you are doing, it will not only make you want to do/write/play more, but others will see that passion in you and gravitate towards your style of music! (Of course it doesn't hurt if you can play well too lol). Don’t quit your day job!. Through all of our years playing and touring in bands, we have always had day jobs. You need money to pay for all the gear you want and success does not come overnight. It takes perseverance and dedication. You need to be able to (and want to) invest every waking moment to your music.

5. Where did you guys get the idea for the name of your band?

Well... that comes from years of incarceration in various institutions, such as: Juvenile hall, prison, mental asylums… you name it! Actually, in the beginning, we could not come up with a name that was not already taken! So we said "screw it", this will do (haha).

6. What do you guys want your fans to know about you that they might not know already?

We are all big goofballs. We love to joke around and have fun. We love hanging out and meeting new people everywhere we go. So if you see us out somewhere, just come up and talk to us. We are super appreciative of everyone who comes out to a show, wears one of our shirts, posts on facebook about us, and who just happens to be in the bar where we are playing. We do not consider fans "fans". They are more like good friends we get to see at the shows! We like to make it a party and get everyone involved. That is what we live for. Those 45 magical minutes that we get to go on stage and play our hearts out for our friends.

7.
What are you guys thinking before you go on stage?

 "Don’t fuck it up!"

You can't put a hold on Restrayned's epic performances at their shows because they are true talent. SO GO LIKE THEIR BAND PAGE!!!!
