Interview with Raise the Tide!!!

1. What inspired you guys to play music?

Throughout all our lives, we have each wanted to play live in a band and be able to get known for our work. It was going to shows and seeing other bands live that really inspired and took hold of our hearts, telling us that playing music is what we born to do. Playing music with the people you love and the people you function with.

2.  How has music changed your life? 

The band in general has changed our lives, being able to escape from everything and just stand up there with each other and play our hearts out. It has been an adventure as well as an experience and words can’t describe how badly we hope to keep doing this in the future. Music has made us into who we are today, some black boys rap, some white boys do too, but the stuff we play: that is who we really are.

3. What bands do you guys listen to and how have they shaped your music?

We listen to a variety of bands:  Asking Alexandria, Protest the Hero, Escape the Fate, BMTH, even a little bit of Indy music or T-Swift never hurts. It is the combination of all those genres put together that you get when you listen to our originals. We began thinking that being a metal band would be easy considering its becoming cliché, but after the time we have spent together one can see it is become far more than just metal.

4.     What advice do you guys have for people that want to pursue in music as their career? 

Never give up and give it your all. Bands are ALL about money, girls, drugs and drinking. I mean, it is about that most of the time, but not ALL the time. Don’t expect to get big over a couple of years it will take time and perseverance.

5.     Where did you guys get the idea for the name of your band?

We were originally called "Horror on Campus" for our first show; we played with another band called "Submerge the Sky". We were watching them play and saw how close they all were and how much they liked playing music, we took their name, and switched it around (opposite of their words): "Raise the Tide".

6.     What do you guys want your fans to know about you that they might not know already?

I think fans should know that every now and then we would appreciate a good party with some free booze. But more of all, they should know that we aren't cocky like some bands are, if you ever saw us on the street and ran up said "Oh your from RTT", we would not get all sleazy about it because we are a band and we love it so much <3

7.     What do you guys think when you are on stage?

Colton: It is simply a feeling I can’t describe.
Alex: I am thinking wow, here we are.
Tyler: I just feel like I am invincible.
Scott: I am thinking there is no where I would rather be in the world than here right now.
