Interview with Tale of a Prophet!!!!! :)

Here are the members of the band:

Kyle Phillips - Lead Vocals
Ryan DeMarco - Guitar
Josh Tribley - Guitar
Dalton Grant - Bass
Jae Segatto - Drums
Here are the questions I asked them and below are their group responses:

1. What inspired you guys to play music?

For most of us we saw the bands we listened to as kids and wanted to do what they did. Just seeing how fun it looked to be up on stage playing, seemed like something we could picture ourselves doing for the rest of our lives.

2. How has music changed your life?

By playing music, we have been able to become more social. At shows, we have met some of the coolest people, people that we will always remember, whether good, or bad. Music also given us all a really good outlet for our creativity; one where we're able to express ourselves in the most fun way we could think of.

3. What bands do you guys listen to and how have they shaped your music?

Well for one, we all obviously listen to the music that we play, but we do all have some very different music that we listen to when we are not playing and listening to metal core. Josh, for example, was heavily influenced by classic metal and thrash metal. He puts some of these little nuances into the riffs and solos he makes. Ryan, being the other guitarist, has influenced our songs greatly with his playing. He is used to playing anything from Blink 182 to A Day to Remember.. to even The Word Alive, so their playing styles all tend to rub off on our music. Jae, our drummer, listens to a lot of modern metal core and post-hardcore, so the typical playing style of metal can be seen in his playing, especially with his beautiful double bass.. :) Dalton, our bassist, listens to a lot of metal, but also listens to a lot of alternative music, like Coheed and Cambria. This shows in his following of Josh and Ryan's guitar playing. Kyle, our vocalist, has not always listened to our type of music for a while and has only been screaming for under a year, but bands such as Asking Alexandria and Of Mice and Men have shaped his style immensely.

4. What advice do you guys have for others that want to pursue in music as their career?

You just have to be able to endure through all the crap that happens. It is not easy to get a band started and keep it going. No matter how old you are, it is going to be hard to find people that will be committed to music, as well as those who are actually talented. If you can find both of those, keep at it. Just be true to yourself and be able to create something that you can be proud of. Most of all, have fun with it.

5. Where did you guys get the idea for the name of your band?

I think that the name of the band actually came from our old vocalist, Anthony. We were just starting out and did not even have any songs yet. Our guitarist, Ryan also was not in the band, but Dalton's friend, Chris was. It was kind of a decision between "Her Last Hope" and "Tale of a Prophet," but the first sounded a little too emo for us, so we chose Tale of a Prophet.

6. What do you want your fans to know about you guys that they might not know already?

We actually have a really hard time agreeing on parts of songs and it usually takes us about a month to write a song. The only exceptions are ChadBroChill and This Is What We Came Here For, which were each written in like 3 days. Another thing, most of the band actually hates ChadBroChill and can not wait to have enough songs where we do not have to play it at shows.

7. What are you guys thinking about when you go on stage?

We are just thinking about how everythings going to go and just going through all the little things we need to remember, like certain parts of our stage prescience. Sometimes, we really do not think about much before we go on and just get ready to have fun.

Tale of Prophet is a band that works hard to where they are today and wants all their screamo fans to know that they love them. So you screamo fans need to appreciate all the stuff they do for you by telling all your friends to like the page and listen to their songs when they play a show near you :)
